There has never been a more competitive year for lazy, incompetent, cheesy, dumb cynical movies - to the extent that making a worst 10 list is a rather unfair exercise.

The list below should therefore not be taken as in any way definitive.

With the exception of the loathsome "The Majestic" these are merely the first turkeys that come to mind.

• THE MAJESTIC: Easily the most offensively bad movie of the year by virtue of a cloying screenplay so atrocious it beggars belief.
